Write off number plates?

If you are unfortunate enough to write off your vehicle then you may also write off your number plate.

Act NOW!

If the car is at risk of being written off- then so is the plate!

Get on the phone to the insurance company and make it crystal clear to them that should the car be written off that you wish to keep the personalised registration.

Insurers are increasingly more accommodating with private number plates so you may find they raise the issue with you- the key thing is to raise the subject ASAP.

Transfer ASAP

If the car is to be written off then you need to transfer the numberplate to either retention or another vehicle.

This absolutely must take place before the car is declared a write off- if the car is written off before you are able to transfer the number plate- then the plate is also "written off" and is nigh impossible to recover.

Talk to your insurer

The key to not losing your number plate if your vehicle is written off is to get in immediate contact with your insurer and make them fully aware you want to keep the number plate.
So long as you act fast and are clear- your number plate will be safe!
